- In saltwater or muddy launches? Manually stow it. Your gear will thank you.
- If you're a commercial guide? Get the manual deploy option (or budget for annual service on the auto version).
And if you're a procurement person like me, build the conversation with your vendor. Ask them: "What are the things that break? What conditions cause this feature to fail?" If they can't give you a straight answer, find a vendor who can. Because the product isn't just a spec sheet. It's a system you're betting your season on.
